10. Stutterfly- And we are bled of color
To start the list off is Stutterfly`s, And we are bleed of color. They`re an older band in the genre, and I can`t say I've seen or heard much until I started making this list. A friend actually suggested I look at this album for my list, and I`m glad he did! I just like the look of this cover,I`ts got a nice worn look to it that fits in the genre very well. If it wasn't for the fact that there`s not much going on,it would be higher on my list.
09. Atreyu- Lead sails paper anchors 2.0
At number nine we have Atreyu`s, Lead sails paper anchors 2.0. I've always been a fan of this band and this album. Of course it was a no brainer it had a spot on this list. I mean who doesn't like a nice red filter on there art? This album marked a change in the sound of the band, and you could tell just by looking at this cover.
08. Silverstein - Discovering the waterfront
Next up we have Silverstein`s, Discovering the water front. This is another band that I haven't given the time of day. All I know is they write great poetry, have you read The Giving Tree? A real tear jerker. HAHA. All joking aside I love the art style on this cover. It inspires feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, and despair. Which means it fits the bands style of songwriting perfectly.
07.Circa Survive - On letting go
At number seven we have Circa Survive`s On letting go. I had a few problems with this one,First off most people you ask say that Circa Survive are not Post-Hardcore. I can`t disagree more, just listen to Living together. Then I had the devil`s own job trying to decide between this and Juturna (there first album),but I think I made the right call.
06. A Day to Remember-Homesick
Dadada. Dadada. Da Da Da Da Da Da. Dadada. Dadada. Dadada. Da Da Da. LET`S GO?
05.Thursday/Envy
Next we have a two-for-one with this split album containing songs from both Thursday and Envy. This cover has so much going for it,like the birdnado. I`m finding it hard to give a good reason why this cover is so cool, it just fits so well.
04.Escape the Fate-Dying is your latest fashion
Next we have Escape the Fate`s, Dying is your latest fashion. Alright, alright I can already hear you guys complaining, but remember what I said, this is about the cover not the music and I`ll admit I have more than a few Escape the Fate songs on my phone right now. Come on you have to admit it takes guts to just put a very troubled young woman on your album and expect it to be groundbreaking, but it works. Just listen to Not Good Enough For Truth in Cliche,it`ll make sense.
03. Coheed and Cambria-Good Apollo Burning Star IV
At number three is Coheed and Cambria`s, Good Apollo Burning Star IV. This album has a special place in my heart, but I will not get into that today. Just looking at the menacing guillotine on the front and then opening up the book and seeing the artwork inside just makes you wanna buy the CD right then and there. There's a reason these guys make comic books now.
02. Thrice-Vheissu
Next we have Thrice`s, Vheissu, now this is an album cover. It has so much stuff going on, like song lyrics and enough weird pictures to make you spin it a full 360 degrees trying to figure out and see them all. It radiates mystery and marks a point for the band to get away from it`s punk roots and adopt a new poetic songwriting style.
Honorable Mentions
Saosin-Translating the name
This cover is the definition of minimalism proving that if you just put your band name on the cover and still be awesome, sadly it`s only an EP.
Hands Like Houses -Ground dweller
If this was a top eleven list this would be on the list, but i just thought it didn't stack up to the other covers.
01.Chiodos-All`s Well That Ends Well
Taking the top spot on my list is Chiodos`, All`s Well That Ends Well. In classic Chiodos fashion this cover leaves you wondering what the hell is going on and loving every minute of it. Just take a minute and look at it,go ahead. This cover has stood the test of time coming out way back in 2005,and it`s still breathtaking.
Agree with the list? Disagree? let me know, and I wanna see your lists. This was fun and difficult at the same time. I rediscovered a lot of music while putting this list together. I would love to do another list so gimme some suggestions on lists you wanna see. Thanks for reading, and don't forget to come back next weekend for more music.
